Client Spotlight: The Battery Conservancy

It's pretty easy to love what you do when you work with such great people. Our clients are changing the world for the better and their missions really resonate with us.

The Battery Conservancy is an excellent organization fighting to rebuild and revitalize the 25 acre park located at the tip of Manhattan. They are keeping a gorgeous slice of New York beauty alive, and modernizing it for future generations to appreciate.

Rich in history since 1623, The Battery Conservancy has served as strategic protection during war, a castle, a premier concert hall, an immigrant receiving center, and now a national monument. They offer a little bit of something for everyone. No matter your age, or whether you are a tourist or a hardened New Yorker, you can find a way to escape reality and find peace within The Battery Conservancy. It is such an experience that more than 6 million people visit the grounds every year.

Take a move toward the fanciful

Sea Glass Carousal

The SeaGlass Carousal is the newest addition to the park. The magical underwater scene shimmers with light and color, enshrouding the riders in an illusion so enthralling that they recently received a nod from the Travel Channel. With over 250,000 visitors last year, and 30,000 mentions of Facebook, people agree that this attraction really can't be missed.

Bonus-the carousal is enclosed in an aquarium type glass building, so you can enjoy it in any weather.

Explore the harbor by boat

You can catch a ride at The Battery Conservancy by sailing the high seas in a historical ship modeled after the plans of an 1854 schooner, or seeing the sights of beautiful New York via water taxi. This is also where you board the ferry to visit Lady Liberty and Ellis Island.

Find peace in scenic beauty

Battery Conservancy Spring Flowers Bloom

At The Battery Conservancy, you can spend the day soaking up the sun surrounded by nature at its finest. With 134,000 square feet of gardens, the spring blankets the park in bright delicate flowers. In the summer, you can escape the heat of the city and dance in the fountain, picnic on the oval, swim to the SeaGlass Carousal, watch a free concert, or shop at the Battery fair. In autumn you can watch the leaves change and fall, or get a final few rides on The Battery Bikeway, which connects east and west Manhattan. While winter blankets the park in a clean, fresh slate.

Learn a little

Enhance your brain with adult and youth education programs. They offer teacher training programs at their urban farm that allow you to introduce the idea of farming and sustainability to your class. Take a tour of the Battery to learn about its rich history and important landmarks. Or volunteer in a variety of ways, including gardening, greeting visitors, prepping for events, and maintaining its overall beauty.

Keep in touch

If you aren't lucky enough to live or visit New York City, you can still stay in touch by following their Facebook page for great pictures and regular updates.

No matter how you enjoy The Battery Conservancy, do yourself a favor and enjoy it.
